Thanks to the heart, hustle, and game-day grit of our players, coaches, sponsors, and fans, BvB Dallas 2025 is proud to direct every dollar raised to the organizations leading the fight against Alzheimer's. Meet the 2025 beneficiaries powering our mission to #tackleALZ.
BvB Dallas is re-establishing funding for the Neuropsychology Fellowship at UT Southwestern under Dr. Laura LaCritz, in collaboration with the Peter O’Donnell Jr. Brain Institute. This fellowship trains board-eligible neuropsychologists specializing in cognitive disorders of aging. Since 2016, fellows have produced 55+ publications, delivered 60+ conference presentations, assessed 1,500+ patients, and contributed to specialty programs like the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Clinic.
Our donation will fund the Care Warrior Connect program, led by Veronica Shanklin. This 12-month hybrid initiative supports family caregivers both online and in person, offering 30 wellness and social events, 8 educational workshops, and a 24/7 moderated online community. The program helps caregivers manage stress, combat isolation, and navigate the challenges of caregiving with confidence and connection.
Our donation will fund the Ageless and Artful Expressions programs, expanding art and music therapy for residents with both early- and late-stage dementia. These programs aim to reduce agitation, enhance communication, and foster emotional connections. Outcomes include improved resident well-being, increased participation, reduced i1solation, and greater cognitive engagement, all guided by program lead Laura Coker.
Our donation will fund the expansion and support of programs that help build a “dementia-capable Dallas.” This includes Caregiver Support to reduce stress and burnout, Guardianship services to provide individualized support for more people, Dementia Live training and education sessions across Dallas to increase empathy for those living with dementia, and efforts to increase the number of Certified Dementia Practitioners. The programs are led by Ann Germann.
Our donation will fund a research grant to expand the Diverse FACES database, which collects facial expressions from young, middle-aged, and older individuals from under-represented racial populations. The expanded database will improve research tools and provide facial stimuli comparators for more accurate neuropsychological assessments, enhancing clinical staging and treatment outcomes. The project is led by Dr. Kendra Seaman.
