Game Rules
Each event will have 16 teams of 8 players that will compete in three rounds (prelims, semifinals, and finals. Each wave will involve 4 teams competing head to head, with the top two advancing to the next round. Prelims will involve all 16 teams, the semifinals will involve the 8 that advanced, and the top 4 will compete in a final head to head race.
Egg and Spoon Relay
This will be an 8 person relay race where athletes compete one at a time on a 30 foot field. Each racer must balance an egg on a spoon and carry it the length of the field, go around a cone and return it to the start line. At NO POINT can any athlete touch the egg with their hand. Anytime the egg falls the racer must stop at that point without advancing and pick the egg back up (without using their hands) before continuing the race. Hand offs from one teammate to another must also be made without touching the egg with their hands. When all 8 players have individually completed the down and back distance, the race is over.
3-Legged Race
All 8 players will compete in pairs to complete a relay race on a 30 foot course. Teams of 8 will divide themselves into 4 pairs of athletes. Each pair will stand side by side and tie their inside legs together so they can only advance as a single 3-legged unit. Each pair will race down the 30 foot field, round a cone and return to the starting line. The race ends when all 4 pairs complete the distance down and back.
Sack Race Relay
8 person teams will compete on a 30 foot field and will race in a one way relay style. 4 players will line up across from their other 4 teammates on the opposite end of the field. Racers will hop or shuffle forward with both legs inside a sack. Each team will have three sacks to switch between their 8 players. When the race starts, one player will race the length of the field toward their waiting teammates at the other end. When the first racer crosses the line at the other end, their teammate heads back in the opposite direction, so that each player completes the distance in one direction only. When all 8 players cover the 30 foot field the race is over.
Water Balloon Toss
Each team of 8 will have 4 water balloons. 4 players will start on the baseline and will remain there throughout. The other 4 players will line up across from their teammates and will move back 5 ft each round, increasing the distance of the toss. Each round consists of the balloon being tossed from the baseline to the other teammate AND BACK to the baseline. If the balloon is intact, the distance is increased and the next round begins. When a balloon busts, the two teammates involved are eliminated, however the other players on the team may continue. A team is not eliminated until all four of their balloons are busted. Players MUST stay on their line for each round. One foot must be in contact with the line throughout the toss. If a player moves forward or back and loses contact with the line, the two players involved will be eliminated.
Tug of War
All 8 players will compete simultaneously for the tug of war tournament. There will be 20 feet of neutral space between each team. The rope will be marked in the middle, 10 feet from each team's starting line. The objective is to pull the middle of rope past your side's starting line, thus pulling the other team 10 feet against their will. As there is a safety issue if multiple athletes fall, at the judges discretion the battle may be stopped if it is deemed unsafe. The team unable to stay on their feet will be issued a warning, and the match will be restarted. If the same team has a falling issue again they forfeit the match.
Rules are subject to change at any time.
